Questa Capital Expands Investment and Operations Team; VP Steph Scott Earns Healthcare Investment Recognition

WASHINGTON, DC & SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Questa Capital is pleased to announce the expansion of its investment and operations teams with two senior hires. Dr. Aabed Meer joined the firm as a Partner and Katie Hemmerling as VP of Finance, both of whom are based in Questa’s San Francisco office.

Aabed has more than 15 years of investment and healthcare experience. Previously, Aabed was a Director and member of the founding team at Martis Capital. Prior to that, he was with Capricorn Investment Group, ExploraMed Development and New Enterprise Associates. He has previously focused on investments in healthcare companies, including Epic Systems, Altruista Health (acquired by Blackstone Group), HealthPlan Services (acquired by Wipro), Performance Health (acquired by Patterson Medical), AAIPharma (acquired by Cambridge Major Laboratories; now Alcami), Breg, HeartFlow and Capsule. Aabed graduated from Harvard University with an AB in Biochemical Sciences, and from Stanford University with an MD and MBA. Aabed completed his residency training at Stanford University and continues to serve on the Stanford medical faculty as a board-certified Internal Medicine physician.
Katie will lead Questa’s financial management and reporting functions and was most recently the VP of Finance at Slow Ventures, where she managed all operational and financial functions including deal execution. Katie was previously Controller at Andreessen Horowitz, where she spent over five years as a senior member of the finance team, and began her career at Versant Ventures.
In addition to Aabed and Katie, Eric Thakor joined the firm as an Associate. Eric focuses on executing new investment opportunities and monitoring portfolio companies. Prior to joining Questa, Eric was an analyst at Roivant Sciences, a biopharmaceutical company, where he focused on investments in therapeutic candidates and strategic finance. Eric graduated from Cornell University with a BS, cum laude, with majors in Biology and Finance.
Questa Vice President Steph Scott was recently recognized as one of the Kayo Conference Series’ Top 21 in ’21 Women in Healthcare Investing, focusing on the top women who use ideas, capital and collaboration to solve complex problems in healthcare. The Kayo Conference Series unites a community of women investors that network and communicate about deal flow, capital, industry knowledge and career issues.
